Renee Zellweger
"...I suddenly realized that unless something changed soon...I'd finally die fat and alone...
and be found three weeks later, half-eaten by wild dogs.
Or I was about to turn into Glenn Close... in "Fatal Attraction." - Bridget Jones, memorable British singleton and one of my favorite book/movie heroines of all time.
No matter how many times I watch it, Bridget Jones's Diary still makes me laugh and cry out loud, and most noteworthy of all is just how good Academy Award-winning and super slender American actress Renee Zellweger, of Jerry Maguire, Cold Mountain, and Chicago fame, was in the painfully hilarious, British, and slightly overweight (hardly!) role of Bridget in the 2001 smash comedy. I had the lucky pleasure of meeting Ms. Zellweger about 2 years ago during the bustling holiday season in New York City's Henri Bendel where I was doing a Trunk Show for my Hat line Hats by Tanya. An unassuming Renee, fresh-faced and dressed in casual civilian clothes, walked up to me and asked: "Excuse me, do you work here or do you just look fabulous?" - a completely fabulous compliment I'm not forgetting anytime soon. After spending a little time offering my minimally knowledgeable retail services Renee waved goodbye, and as the much leaner and real Bridget Jones left the busy shopping floor, I happily realized that this extremely well-known and very successful actress was actually much like you and me -completely lovely, sweet, genuine, and down to earth. Most recently, my girl Renee has been all around town promoting her new film My One and Only and looking quite fabulous. Don't change a thing Renee, 'cos we like you, just as you are....
