It wouldn't be summer in New York without a carefully planned excursion to the The Hamptons in Long Island (unless of course you are very posh and actually own a very large beach home/compound in Southampton in which case you can scrap the Jitney and inexpensive beach motel plans altogether). A quaint Main Street lined with sleepy shops, sandy beaches with annoyingly exclusive residential parking permits only, and imposingly gorgeous homes scattered along the scenic roads make up the enticing resort towns that are the Hamptons.
