Gucci Fall Winter 2008/2009

Ahah, finally Gucci's website has put up all the images for their Fall Winter 2008/2009 ad campaign. I was looking forward to see the full series. What I have seen so far from magazine scans at www.thefashionspot.com have not been doing these imagery justice. The full series in high quality scans looked even more amazing. Shot by Inez & Vinoodh, it features new campaign models replacing Natasha Poly and Matt Gordon. After seeing these 2 for a few seasons, it is nice to have new faces representing Gucci. Lily Donaldson is the main female face and Olaf Czosnowski is the predominant male face. Gucci man is getting younger, no longer are the buffed mature sexy male models walking the runways or appearing in the ads. The 'sex-crazed' Tom Ford Gucci era is over.

Back to the new shots, I am in love with this ad campaign. Not only because it is shot outdoors, but the muted colour tones is what sets the series apart from the competitors'. The styling of the clothes is amazing as does the angles. Although, I feel some models in the background might not be too happy since they get cropped off in quite a few shots. Wonder if they get paid half the rate for not showing their full face. Hahaha. All those odd poses from the ladies are looking hilarious at times. Like some drunk delusional russian millionaire wives gone crazy after discovering her husband is having an affair.:-P That's my imagination.

For the pieces featured, I love the men's moleskin jacket in russian blue. The tall leather brown leather boots with Gucci crest as well (It's available in Singapore's Paragon store at approx. SGD $2800!). The ladies' folklore inspired monogram bags, 'LV speedy' style is also very cute.

All in all, a great campaign, beautiful models and fantastic photography, even though the clothes are generally not very wearable in its entirety for guys. Too much detailing and frivolous. Will go out of trend once this season is over.
