The Runway Sniper #57
Alexander McQueen Fall Winter 2010 Womenswear
The 16 looks of Alexander Mcqueen's final Fall Winter 2010 Women's Collection before his passing. Shown in an intimate setting to selected editors and journalists, the collection references back to the era of Byzantine Empresses and medieval Madonnas.
"He wanted to get back to the handcraft he loved, and the things that are being lost in the making of fashion," Sarah Burton (McQueen's right hand woman) said. "He was looking at the art of the Dark Ages, but finding light and beauty in it. He was coming in every day, draping and cutting pieces on the stand."
Apparently, the 16 outfits shown had been 80 percent finished at the time of Alexander Mcqueen's death. As you browse thru each of the highly captivating looks, you cannot help but feel a sense of loss that a pure talent has left the fashion world.
